Hey mes petits dreamers,
Today I discovered le Artic Room 51. Halle-f******-lujah.
As the heat wave continues in Paris and everyone leaves a nice wet patch on your arm as you brush past in the street, it’s getting a bit ridiculous. In Australia I’d just head down to the beach for a quick dip, but that’s unfortunately not an option in Paris. I need to find a solution. Asap.
And voilà, here it is. The only bar in Paris where you can enjoy a drink at -10°C! Tucked away in the exclusive hotel terrace of the Jardins du Marais is Arctic Room 51. This innovative concept was produced by Pernod Ricard and sees a shipping container magically transformed into a custom designed ice bar. Inside you have more than 4 tons of carved ice that offer a welcome relief from the blazing summer heat.
Once you’ve enjoyed a few drinks inside and you can’t feel your nipples anymore, you know it’s time to venture back out. But once you do, the party continues. Go and kick back on one of the many colorful deck chairs scattered around the charming terrace or, if you’re feeling lively, you can even enjoy a game of pétanque. I wasn’t.
Oh, and one other important detail that’s worth a mention: when you enter the Arctic Room 51, you have a few options to fight off the hyperthermia, such as a large silver coat, a fur hat, and fabulous Moon Boots. Say yes. To. All.
The icebox is hands down the most refreshing option during a Parisian heat wave.
Feeling delightfully refreshed.
Still getting lost in the right direction.
Ready to get my arctic on.
Should have worn my moon boots.
Container conversion at it’s best.
Don’t mind if I do.
Happy customer 🙂
Hide the frozen nipples.
Best boots in town.
Follow me to the ice box.
Petanque? No thanks.
Bonne nuit. Bisous.
