Hey mes petits dreamers,
Today I discovered Montmartre – backdrop for The Fabulous Destiny of Amélie Poulain, my favorite Frenchie movie. And that I could totally see myself living here….
I climbed up all 300 steps to the terrace of the Sacré Coeur. What a workout. But well worth it – this place offers one of the best views in all of Paris, stunning any time of the day or night. Not to mention that the Sacré Coeur is gorgeous all by itself. Construction began in 1875 and was completed in 1914. It was meant to remind the rebellious Communists of Montmartre, who actually started an armed revolt in 1871, of the power of the church and the state. But enough history. I’ll come back here another day to take some pics for you – for now I’m in the mood to wander.
Let’s go explore the back streets where Amélie Poulain wandered and dreamed, acting out her quirky little schemes that would eventually bring her together with her adorable man friend. Today I’m totally channeling Amélie, minus the super cute cropped bob and the fact that I’m Australian. Still, I’m also in search of life, love, and happiness. Aren’t we all?
After a good time spent walking around this delightful wonderland, I stumbled across a très chic accordéon player in the street – he played me a small tune. I was delighted so I danced. He didn’t. Must have had a bad day. For me it was still a little piece of random magic.
Still getting lost in the right direction.
Yes they’re real. I don’t know how to use photoshop.
A lovely day for a wander.
Come with me.
One second after the owner came out and abused me.
Don’t look at my dirty shoe.
I see you Sacre Coeur.
No bra. Risqué. I know.
Pockets. Always useful.
It was more comfortable than it looks.
