Hey mes petits dreamers,
Today I discovered la Maison Rose and my new bible – How to Be Parisian Wherever You Are: Sex, Food, and Femininity. All enjoyable subjects.
French painter Maurice Utrillo made la Maison Rose famous. His painting is called “little pink house,” and there she is. A glowing pink restaurant perched on a hill. I crossed the road to find myself a table for one and almost getting side-swiped by a speeding tuktuk. Seriously? Tuktuks in Paris? Is there anything this city doesn’t have?
The ambience of la Maison Rose is exactly what I love: quaint, charming with imperfections throughout. I feel right at home. I take a seat and dive into my new bible; shamefully I’m not a huge reader. I know. Don’t judge me.
There are some serious pearls of wisdom in this book. My personal favorites are the advice about embracing navy, having a signature piece, and owning your bad habits – “She drinks vodka in the evenings but green tea in the mornings” – here, here! But my absolute favorite tip that totally made me LOL: “Always be fuckable. When standing in the lines at the bakery on a Sunday morning, buying champagne in the middle of the night or even picking the kids up from school. You never know.”
Based on this book’s theory, it’s a miracle I’ve ever gotten “lucky.” Judging by the French standard, I don’t think the gym pants that I often wore in Australia on days where I just couldn’t be bothered would pass as “fuckable” attire.
On that note, I’m off to buy a bottle of champagne to drink while I throw out all of my beloved gym pants.
Still getting lost in the right direction.
Great advice and a light refreshment.
Always look up!
Is that a cute boy in the door way ??….Sorry. False alarm.
WARNING. Crazy tuktuk drivers roam the back streets of Paris. But don’t worry, he’s colour coordinated and that’s the important thing.
A bad hair day never killed anyone.
Paris je t’aime.
